 K-12
The K-12 programs are developed around identifying the student's needs and then providing the particular training and learning experiences to coordinate with individual tutoring and supplemental learning requirements of that person. Sterling professionals provide the individual attention needed to help students be more successful. The SSLC methodology uses the student's text and Sterling selected supplemental materials and experiences. Sterling Supplemental Learning Centers' professionals incorporate materials and methods from a variety of resources for each student to help make the experience enjoyable and rewarding. Learning is a life-long process; we want to process to be pleasant.
Each person is assessed for their needs and an individual plan is developed in consultation with the parent/guardian. Through the interview and testing process, SSLC staff will seek to identify areas that need added attention and those areas where the student's skills are at the proper grade level. By recognizing areas to strengthen such as study and testing skills in conjunction with specific course work, our students gain the abilities and self assurance that they need to be successful in school and life. The strategy is to provide the best possible opportunity for each person to reach their potential by helping in their current endeavor as well as preparing with the skills to continue well beyond their Sterling experience. One of our goals is to provide each student with the time and attention they need to meet their learning goals.
5th Grade to 10th Grade After School Program
To complement our instructor tutoring services, Sterling Supplemental Learning Centers (SSLC) introduced our After School Program in March 2006. This after-hour program from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. provides a learning environment for students to work on their homework assignments and also provides peace of mind for parents and guardians regarding their student’s after school studies. Fifth through tenth grade students may register for a three or five-day per week program. SSLC has qualified instructors during the scheduled hours to monitor the environment.
The After School Program provides students a secure and safe educational environment with minimal distractions. After completing their homework, students may use the balance of their time to access a safe Internet environment provided on Sterling computers. After School hours are from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Charges are levied for late pickup from the Center up until 8 p.m.
